Today is International Children’s Day, one of the days dozens of countries have set aside to reflect on children’s rights. The Guyana Empowered Peoples Action Network (GEPAN) remembers the children of the streets, those who are victims of forced labour and TIP, those who are victims of poverty and abuse in its multiple forms.
We also remember the children fallen at the hands of war, those trapped in the Syrian armed conflict and in the conflict zones of the Middle East and A…frica.
GEPAN believes that the international community has yet to prove its full commitment and dedication to providing a healthy and peaceful world, in which our children can grow and exploit their full potential.
We therefore join with others in calling on all Governments to respect and to promote the rights of children unequivocally and without bias.
