Georgetown – Some of you would recall Carol-Ann’s public plea for assistance for her two young toddlers a few weeks ago. Carol-Ann is one of many victims of domestic abuse and gender-based violence, but this time, her husband is currently charged and forced to face the law for breaking her left arm.
Since the ordeal, Carol-Ann’s arm has been in a cast and she was left without an income. With no means to provide for her family, she currently lives in a shack behind her mother’s house in Bartica, Region 7, with her two daughters (ages one and two) and a sixteen-year-old son who was forced to drop out of school due to the financial difficulties.
Our donors reached out to her, providing food and hygiene products to last the family a few months as we continue to renew our support according to their needs, until Carol-Ann recovers the use of her arm. It is hoped that we can further assist this mother of three to find a means of income as soon as she is fully healed.
We would like to thank our donors and well-wishers, particularly in the diaspora, for taking up interest in our initiatives. Without your kindness GEPAN cannot make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
