GEPAN, Georgetown – Every year, GEPAN provides stationery and school necessities to children as part of our commitment to enhance access to education. These items are given to children whose families are financially challenged and who subsequently find it difficult to attend school due to limited resources.

This year, back-packs ( including 2 rulers, 2 pencils, 2 sharpeners, 2 erasers, 5 notebooks, 12 crayons for kiddies, 5 pencils and 4 pens for older children, per child) were distributed to 200 children in Region 9 and 160 in Region 1. Another 24 back-packs and stationery were donated to children in Region 8 while other children from Region 2 are scheduled to benefit by the end of December 2018.

The SEC 2018 programme focused primarily on hinterland beneficiaries for whom access to education is often reduced due to poor infrastructure, distance from educational facilities and limited financial resources.

GEPAN’s donors and contributors are mainly from the private sector and diaspora.

Below are images of the distribution conducted in some of the villages in the South Pakaraimas, Region 9.
