The Guyana Empowered Peoples Action Network continued its Support Education Campaign (SEC) 2017 in Moruca, Region #1. Packages to assist with back-to-school expenses for twenty-five (25) children were delivered to the Haimacabra Primary School , as well as stationery to the Kamwatta Primary School.

GEPAN Secretary, Don Stoll, explained that it was a much welcomed gesture for which the Head of the Haimacabra Primary School was grateful. Moruca is one of the three sub-regions of Barima-Waini and comprises of several smaller communities of predominantly Amerindian inhabitants. The Carib and Arawak peoples form the main indigenous nations in this area.

GEPAN’s SEC programme was launched in 2016, benefitting one hundred and sixty children (160). This year, the programme catered for at least two hundred and fifty (250) children from Regions # 1, 2, 4 and 10.
